We realise everyone has busy lives and this course is designed to give you the dog of your dreams faster than anyone else. Our “Calmness Leads to Reward” © – ‘The Essentials’ Dog Training & Behaviour Course is our foundation level 1 course and is an intensive programme conducted over 3 weekly 1 ½ hour sessions. 

This course is personally taught by ‘The Dog Guru’ himself Keith Mathews and is held at various different venues throughout Northern Ireland.

We cover all aspects of dog training, puppy socialisation and behaviour management.  We will provide you with the expert knowledge showing you how to teach your dog the ‘Essential’ Communication Cue’s which will forever transform the behaviour of your dog, creating a new stress free, balanced relationship built on respect, mutual affection and loving leadership.

The course is suitable for all breeds and ages of dogs and puppies from 16 weeks old with no upper age limit.  Spaces are limited to a maximum of 10 dogs per course.

Course Cost: £135 for a 3-week intensive course split into 3 weekly 1½ hour weekly session.

During the course we will teach you how to train and communicate with your dog using our uniquely developed “Calmness Leads to Reward” © formula for dog training & dog behaviour.

“Calmness Leads to Reward” is a dog training and behaviour management philosophy developed by Keith Mathews over 30 years ago and is based on a true understanding of animal psychology and the dogs innate primal instinct for the survival of the family pack unit.

Evolved from his life long study of canine behaviour and primarily the interaction and communication between the mother and her litter of new born puppies “Calmness Leads to Reward” is a holistic dog training and behaviour method which incorporates two core fundamentals, that of ‘Behaviour Family Management’ and ‘The Education of Communication Cues’ through only positive training techniques, which are based on the timely, consistent, reward of affection with love without the need for bribery with treats or gadgets.

WHAT YOU & YOUR DOG WILL LEARN AT OUR CLASSES

Our objective over the 3-week course is to provide you with the knowledge and coaching required to teach you how to transform your dog’s behaviour.  We want your dog to be a loving, calm family member one that understands the boundaries when living within your home and family unit.

Keith Mathews ‘The Dog Guru’ is an expert in dog training & dog behaviour he will provide you with the tools and knowledge to help you successfully communicate with your dog positively and remedy any problem behaviours you are experiencing.

We have listed below some of the areas of focus and skills you and your dog will learn while attending our course.

• 6 Essential Communication Cue’s: We will show you how to teach your dog the Communication Cues of Heel, Sit/Stay, Recall, Place/Bed, the Release Cue & the Leave/No Cue.
• Calmness: We will provide you with the knowledge and training so that you can get your dog to be calm, relaxed and have the ability to simply just chill.
• Walking on the Leash: During the programme we will teach you how to train your dog to walk calmly on the leash without pulling and being reactive towards people and other dogs.
• Meeting & Greeting: We will educate and show you how to develop the essential ‘social skills’ teaching your dog to be calm and in control of their own energy while meeting and greeting people both inside and outside the home without jumping up and getting over excited.
• Coming When Called: We will provide you with the knowledge to get your dog to come when called using the vocal cue and also with a dog training whistle.
• Switching Off: We will teach you how to train your dog to go to a place and wait patiently in their bed or place mat should you need them to do so.

These are just a few of the standard skills and ‘Communication Cues’ both you and your dog will learn while on our course alongside your personal bespoke requirements.  Our course is designed to help prevent future behavioural problems and remedy any existing problematic behaviours through training.
