At ‘Dog Guru’ our system of education is totally unique.  We have developed over 30 years, 5 different tier levels of ‘Family Dog Education Programmes’ with over 60 different modules based on our “Calmness Leads to Reward” ® positive dog training and behaviour methodology.

We realise everyone has busy lives and our Level 1 – ‘Essentials’ is the entry level to our ‘Family Dog Education Programmes’. Designed to give you the dog of your dreams faster than anyone else.  This is an intensive course conducted over 3 weekly, 1 ½ hour sessions and held at various venues nationwide.

In this course we cover all aspects of dog training, puppy socialisation and behaviour management.  At ‘Dog Guru’ our methodology, is to develop human learning,  so that owners become effective ‘dog parents’.  We will provide you with the tools and expert knowledge showing you how to to realign your relationship with your dog, teaching you how to educate and communicate friendship, deep trust, and unconditional love to them.  Therefore, positively transforming and nurturing the relationship between you both, in a uniquely healing, and therapeutic way.

The course is suitable for all breeds and ages of dogs and puppies from 12 weeks old with no upper age limit.  All dogs must be fully vaccinated before attending.  Spaces are limited, with a maximum of 9 dogs per course.

The course costs : £135 for a 3 week intensive programme, split into 3 weekly 1½ hour sessions.

During the course we will teach you how to train and communicate with your dog using our uniquely developed “Calmness Leads to Reward” ® formula for dog training & dog behaviour.

“Calmness Leads to Reward” ® is a pioneering, innovative, positive dog training and behaviour management philosophy.  Uniquely developed by Keith Mathews ‘The Dog Guru’ and formulated from his practical work and 30 years ongoing study of canine behaviour.

This system has proved a huge hit globally and is proven by the fact that not only does Keith conduct monthly training programmes in Northern Ireland, but he also delivers regular monthly workshops to other dog trainers and behaviourists in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe.

Unlike other training methods which tend to use treats with traditional conditioning methods. “Calmness Leads to Reward” ® is about reading and redirecting the energy of your dog. It’s about teaching, before training and uses only positive gentle motivating methods, based on the timely consistent, reward of affection, with love, without the need for motivation using treats or gadgets.

WHAT YOU & YOUR DOG WILL LEARN AT OUR CLASSES

Our objective over the 3-week course is to provide you with the knowledge and coaching and teach you how to transform your dog’s behaviour.  We want your dog to be a loving, calm family member that one that understands the boundaries when living within your home and family unit.

Keith Mathews ‘The Dog Guru’ is an expert in dog training & dog behaviour, and he will provide you with the tools and knowledge to help you successfully communicate with your dog positively and remedy any problems behaviours you are experiencing.

We have listed below some of the areas of focus and skills you and your dog will learn while attending our Level 1 ‘Essentials’ course.

• 6 Essential Communication Cue’s: We will show you how to teach your dog the Communication Cues of Heel, Sit/Stay, Recall, Place/Bed, the Release Cue & the Leave/No Cue.
• Calmness: We will provide you with the knowledge and training so that you can get your dog to be calm, relaxed and have the ability to simply just chill.
• Walking on the Leash: During the programme we will teach you how to train your dog to walk calmly on the leash without pulling and being reactive towards people and other dogs.
• Meeting & Greeting: We will educate and show you how to develop the essential ‘social skills’ teaching your dog to be calm and in control of their own energy while meeting and greeting people both inside and outside the home without jumping up and getting over excited.
• Coming When Called: We will provide you with the knowledge to get your dog to come when called using the vocal cue and teach you how to introduce a dog training whistle.
• Switching Off: We will teach you how to train your dog to go to a place and wait patiently in their bed or place mat should you need them to do so.
